About the Event
Pakistan is once again facing one of its most severe floods in recent years. The western province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been particularly devastated, with 1.8 million people affected. In the mountainous areas, flash floods have obliterated entire villages. Landslides have buried roads, homes, and markets. The situation is worsening due to continuous rainfall in Pakistan, along with the release of water from dams on the Indian side.
The province of Punjab is at risk of severe flooding, with 1.4 million people already in grave danger. Over 470,000 individuals and 340,000 livestock have been evacuated. Predictions indicate that more than 20 million people could be impacted by flooding in Punjab alone. Depending on weather developments, the southern province of Sindh is also at significant risk.
